Cengage Learning, a leading global provider of innovative teaching, learning and research solutions, today announced the appointment of Cindy Cook as Chief Marketing Officer of the company’s Academic and Professional Group. Cook, who will join the company on April 5, will be charged with accelerating company growth and digital transformation through aggressive marketing of the company’s products, services and solutions.

Cook most recently served as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Vivendi Games, creator of some of the industry’s largest and most profitable games, where she ran marketing operations and was directly accountable for the mobile and casual games divisions. She also drove strategy and was part of the senior management team that led a successful merger with Activision to create the world’s largest videogame publisher, Activision Blizzard.
Prior to Vivendi Games, Cook was one of the pioneers in digital music, launching the first commercial download and subscription service at Universal Music Group. Earlier in her career, Cook held a variety of management roles at Pepsi-Cola, The Seagram Company and General Electric.
Cook holds an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a B.S. from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.
