Ed2go and Smart Horizons Career Online Education Partner with McDonald’s® To Offer Education Opportunities to Eligible Employees
Employees Without High School Diplomas Qualify for Unique Opportunity as Part of McDonald’s “Archways to Opportunity™” Educational Program
Boston, MA, April 8, 2015– Eligible employees working in McDonald’s restaurants who are interested in earning an AdvancED/SACS/NCA accredited high school diploma and entry-level workforce certificate now have access to Career Online High School (COHS), an innovative educational program developed by Smart Horizons Career Online Education in partnership with ed2go, part of Cengage Learning. COHS is being offered to qualifying employees working in company-owned and franchise-owned restaurants as part of “Archways to Opportunity,” a groundbreaking new employee education program promoting workforce education to support business and ensure employee success and advancement.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of McDonald’s commitment to education, which will help provide a brighter future for the people working in their restaurants,” stated Smart Horizons Career Online Education’s founder and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Howard Liebman. “COHS will be an important component of the Archways to Opportunity workforce education program which underscores McDonald’s commitment to investing in their people. They are improving lives through re-engaging older youth and adults back into the educational system.”
“At McDonald’s, we believe that education is the true game-changer and we’re proud to provide tools and world-class training that help people succeed within our System,” said Rob Lauber, Chief Learning Officer at McDonald’s. “As part of our Archways to Opportunity program, we are pleased to be working with Career Online High School to make a high school diploma possible for our people — along with the opportunity to gain real-world career skills with older youth and adult workforce-focused curriculum.”
The McDonald’s Archway to Opportunity is an industry leading workforce education program that helps eligible employees learn English-language skills, earn a high school diploma, and move on to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
“Broadening access to education and workforce development opportunities is an important part of our mission, and we’re very excited to work with McDonald’s to help employees realize their education goals,” said Ron Stefanski, Executive Director of Strategic Alliances at ed2go. “McDonald’s recognizes that investing in their people is all about enhancing work life for employees—by providing skills they need to grow and develop.”
