Cengage Learning and the National Association of Home Builders Present Awards for Superior Construction Education and Skill Development

Awards celebrate exceptional instructors and advisors at the 2016 International Builder Show

Las Vegas, NV, January 22, 2016 —As part of Cengage Learning’s continued commitment to the education and skill development of students in the fields of construction and home building, Cengage Learning was an honored award presenter at this year’s 2016 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, NV. In cooperation with the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB), Cengage Learning presented awards in three NAHB Student Chapters categories: Outstanding Educator, Junior Faculty, and Occupational Advisory Committee Member of the Year.

The awards marked the exceptional accomplishments of faculty members and advisors in construction education and professional development, based on nominations from fellow faculty members, students, construction professionals and their local Home Builders Association. This year’s winners include:

  • Outstanding Junior Faculty Award: Assistant Professor Matthew Reyes, University of Oklahoma
  • Outstanding Educator Award: Professor Ken Bertolini, South Dakota State University                                                                                                                                        Professor Norman Takeya, Honolulu Community College
  • Occupational Advisory Committee Member of the Year Award: Berks Career and Technology Center and the HBA of Berks County

This year’s Outstanding Junior Faculty and Outstanding Educator Award winners were presented cash prizes and a plaque from Cengage Learning. The 2015 Occupational Advisory Committee Member of the Year Award winner, Berks Career and Technology Center and the HBA of Berks County, received a cash prize to be directed to their NAHB Student Chapter, as well as a plaque recognizing their achievement.
