Cengage Receives Northern Kentucky Education Council’s 2018 Business Engagement of the Year Award

Kentucky office hub recognized for participation in local educational programs

BOSTON, May 23, 2018 – Cengage, an education and technology company, has been recognized with the 2018 Business Engagement of the Year Award for its partnership with Northern Kentucky schools to improve local student achievement.

The award is presented annually by the Northern Kentucky Education Council, the backbone organization for the alignment of education initiatives in Northern Kentucky. Cengage was honored for its proactive involvement with local educational initiatives and programs that enrich students’ lives and contribute to the community.

“At Cengage, putting students at the center of everything we do is a core aspect of our culture. From our recently announced Cengage Unlimited subscription model addressing access and affordability, to our skills development programs in Kentucky, we are committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for students,” said Joe Steffney, SVP, Supply Chain Management & Real Estate, and Head of House for the Cengage Independence, KY office. “We are thrilled to receive this recognition for our continued participation in programs that our employees have championed and we applaud the ongoing efforts of the Northern Kentucky Education Council.”

Cengage participates in a partnership with Gateway Community and Technical College and Partners for a Competitive Workforce to offer a Supply Chain Management Program to students. The program provides skills training and certifications to jumpstart careers, earn college credits, and connect students with high-wage, high demand employers in the area. Cengage also partners with Boone County Schools, Easter Seals, and the Kentucky Career Center Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to provide an on-site classroom and training positions for individuals with cognitive disabilities through Project Search.
