Cengage Learning Reaches Significant Milestones with CengageNOW
Online Teaching and Learning Resource Now Used by More Than 550,000 Students, Representing a 52 Percent Increase in Registrations Since December 2006
Cengage Learning today announced that due to increasing interest, the company’s online teaching and learning resource, CengageNOW, has been engaged by more than half a million students this year.
Formerly Thomson NOW, CengageNOW is a teaching and learning resource that provides more control in less time and delivers better student outcomes. CengageNOW allows faculty to organize essential activities for class – lecturing, creating assignments, grading, quizzing, and tracking student progress and performance. CengageNOW does this with more control in less time, by providing flexible assignment and gradebook options to best fit overall course goals.
According to a recent survey of CengageNOW users, nearly 90 percent of students agree it helped them understand key concepts and nearly 80 percent said it better prepared them for exams. More than four-fifths of students said CengageNOW helped them earn a better grade.
“At Cengage Learning we recognize that faculty and students need a comprehensive, proven resource to support both teaching and learning. Our goal is to drive results by engaging students more in their course materials,” said Tracy Augustine, chief marketing officer, Cengage Learning. “Overall, CengageNOW saves instructors time and improves student performance.”
CengageNOW empowers students to master concepts, prepare for exams, be more involved in class, and get a better grade through a diagnostic Personalized Study Plan featuring chapter specific Pre-test, Study Plan, and Post-test.
“Student exam scores increased from an average of 64 percent to 76 percent (full letter grade) after using CengageNOW to assign pre-lecture quizzes,” said Chris Murdock, professor at Jacksonville State University.
“The evidence I have seen from my students is that this is a terrific value add,” said Kevin Smith of University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Mina Yavari of Hancock College said, “What I like most about CengageNOW is the simplicity of using it.”
