Course Technology Partners with EC-Council to Enhance Information Security Education
Collaboration to bridge security gap and prepare students for the workforce
Course Technology, a worldwide leader in computing education and part of Cengage Learning, today announced a partnership with EC-Council, a global leader in Information Security and electronic business education, training, and certification to provide professional, globally recognized certifications and content in information security to U.S. academic institutions.
The partnership will result in the publication of over 25 books with instructor and student support materials covering seven EC-Council certification content areas by the end of 2009 under the newly launched EC-Council | Press. Through the EC-Council Press, Cengage Learning will convert EC-Council’s professional reference materials into course content and educator tools into relevant academic content. The resources will cover their certifications such as Network Security Administrator (E|NSA), Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI), Certified Security Analyst (E|CSA), Security|5, Wireless|5, and Network|5.
Dave Garza, Vice President at Cengage Learning remarked, “We are thrilled to partner with an organization of EC-Council’s caliber. With the recent legislation of regulations in information security, the global market is facing a heightened surge in demand for certified security professionals.”
“Our partnership with the EC-Council will combine their certifications and content with our academic market expertise. Through this collaboration we hope to help universities not only provide relevant academic resources for their security programs but ensure their students are better prepared to enter the workforce,” continued Mr. Garza.
“The recent Global Information Security Workforce Study said the number of information security professionals worldwide were likely to rise from 1.6 million this year to 2.7 million by 2012. However we believe the lack of relevant degree programs and course material will thwart worldwide initiatives to control security breaches,” said EC-Council President Sanjay Bavisi.
“Realizing the lack of academic content and programs, we launched our Academic initiative 6 months ago to provide the very core of EC-Council’s internationally reputed certification content to Universities in an academic format. Hence we are very excited that our initiatives will be further strengthened through our partnership with Cengage Learning, one of the largest IT publishers in the world,” ends Jay.
EC-Council has trained over 65,000 people, with over 23,000 successfully certified professionals in over 65 countries. EC-Council’s E|NSA certification has attained 100% CNSS 4011 mapping while the C|EH was recently approved by the U.S. Department of Defense.
