Four Gale Databases Named CODiE Award Finalists

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., February 15, 2008 – Four Gale databases are finalists in the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) 23rd Annual CODiE Awards. These awards celebrate achievement and vision in software, education technology and digital content and are the only peer-reviewed honor in the industry.

  • Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center: Critical Thinking is a finalist in two categories.  First, in the Best Social Studies Instructional Solution category, which awards the best school-based education technology solution for social studies curriculum or content for students in grades pre K-20. Social studies curriculum may include, but is not limited to history, sociology and geography and includes delivery by CD, DVD, online, handheld or multimedia packages.  The resource was also named in the Best Reading/English Instructional Solution category, which awards the best school-based education technology solution for language arts/reading/English curriculum and content for K-12 and postsecondary students and includes solutions for native and non-native English speakers at all levels and delivery by CD, DVD, online, handheld or multimedia packages.
  • Nursing Resource Center is a finalist in the Best Medical and Health Information Product category, which awards the best medical and/or health related information solutions used by professional medical/health staff.
  • PowerSearch Plus is a finalist in the Best Online General Reference Service category, which awards the online service that best packages reference information and includes encyclopedias, maps, wikis, etc. for home or business use.
  • Academic (General) OneFile is also a finalist in the Best Online General Reference Service category.

These online resources have been selected from many high-caliber products as one of the best in the industry.

“Competition is tough this year and that makes selection as a CODiE Finalist a real achievement,” said Ken Wash, SIIA president.  “All the companies on this year’s list should feel justifiably proud of their recognition.”

Winners will be announced in May at the 23rd Annual CODiE Awards Gala.
