Gale Ties Educational Content to Curriculum Standards With New Search Tool

Farmington Hills, Mich., Dec. 8, 2009 – Gale, part of Cengage Learning, announced today the launch of Curriculum Correlations, a search tool designed to help educators and librarians select resources to meet state and national standards.

Curriculum Correlations contains hundreds of titles from Gale and its imprints – Greenhaven Press, Lucent Books, KidHaven Press, Sleeping Bear Press and Blackbirch Press.   By visiting, librarians can search Curriculum Corrections by state, subject and grade to locate titles that align to state and federal standards in the areas of language arts, science, social studies, health and physical education.

“Gale and its imprints are committed to helping educators align their coursework, and librarians align their collections, with state and national curriculum standards,” said Jill Lectka, Gale’s senior vice president for circulating and trade publishing.   “This tool allows schools to easily locate titles that bolster and complement their curriculum.  And to be sure we are staying current, all correlations are continually reviewed and updated by subject area experts using the latest technology.”

Curriculum Correlations takes advantage of EdGate Correlation Services (, a proprietary system for identifying content standards and aligning appropriate content to these standards.  The EdGate Controlled Vocabulary System™ structure provides a systematic method for identifying the key concepts of a standard, whether it is broad or specific, ensuring the alignment to all applicable standards.
