unitedstreaming Added to Gale’s K-12 Databases
Educators Now Able to Access unitedstreaming Directly from Gale Databases
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Sept. 13, 2007 – Gale’s K-12 electronic resources now include a link to unitedstreaming, which will soon be known as Discovery Education Streaming. unitedstreaming, a key teacher tool, is the largest K-12 digital media library available to educators. Gale is a part of Cengage Learning (gale.cengage.com).
A link to unitedstreaming will be implemented first in the following Gale curriculum support tools in early September 2007:
- Student Resource Center (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Junior, and Canadian Edition)
- Discovering Collection
- Junior Reference Collection
- Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
- Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center: Critical Thinking
Customers of these Gale resources who also are unitedstreaming customers now can access unitedstreaming directly from these collections. The link will be added to Gale’s Science Resource Center and Kids InfoBits in late September, 2007.
“This is an important partnership for librarians and teachers both,” said Janet Witalec, Product Manager. “It enables teachers to enhance classroom instruction and save time in lesson planning by integrating the largest K-12 digital media library with the wealth of reference, periodical and primary source content found in Gale supplemental curriculum resources.”
Links to unitedstreaming will be available in several locations within Gale’s K-12 resources. Since a username and password is required to access unitedstreaming, users will have to authenticate the first time they click on the unitedstreaming link. Once authenticated, searches will be carried over to unitedstreaming automatically.
