BOSTON, Sept. 1, 2016 — Cengage Learning’s MindTap Math Foundations has been named an Innovative Technology of the Year award finalist in the edtech category by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC).  In its 19th year, the MassTLC Leadership Awards recognize the best of the region’s tech industry and celebrate innovative companies, executives, and technologies across sixteen categories.

MindTap Math Foundations is a digital learning experience for developmental math – designed to tackle the ongoing problem of college readiness, where 25% of U.S. college freshmen are identified as needing remedial education.  The platform offers multiple features that take a new approach to ensure success while making learning more manageable for students who are balancing priorities such as family and jobs, including:

  • Learning Bursts – Students learn new skills in quick, 15-minute shots of work that can be done at any time of day on their phone, tablet or computer.
  • Engaging Activities – Integrated gaming and interactive video lessons draw students into the content to build problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaboration Tools – Tools like chat and an interactive whiteboard provide real-time student-to-student and instructor-to-student collaboration.
  • On-the-Go Learning – The mobile design allows students to work on assignment activities—complete exercises, watch video lessons and play skill- and concept-building games – on their devices.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 14, at the MassTLC Leadership Awards Gala at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
