Cengage Learning To Provide E-Learning Solution for Training and Development of Electrical Workers

Delmar, a part of Cengage Learning, Announces Partnership with the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee to Provide Online Solution for Outside Line Apprenticeship Program.

Delmar, a part of Cengage Learning, today announced a partnership with the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) to provide an electronic learning solution for the Outside Line Apprenticeship Program.

The blended learning experience will combine the power of an electronic learning solution with printed reference materials, classroom, and application based experiences.

“For more than 60 years, the NJATC has provided the highest quality training and apprenticeship programs for NECA and IBEW members. With that, we recognize the need to incorporate technology into our curricula to help us meet our students’ diverse needs,” said Michael Callanan, Executive Director of the NJATC. “The Cengage Learning solution combines traditional education materials and web-based learning solutions that allow us to better prepare our students for their career.”

Individuals enrolled in the Outside Line Apprenticeship Program benefit from this online solution through the use of interactive study guides for the most difficult concepts and by receiving instant feedback on their workbook questions. The solution delivers the study guides and workbook assignments outside of the classroom, allowing for valuable class time to be spent with more “hands-on” lab work and direct instructor led learning. The student homepage allows students to keep track of their lessons, monitor their grades, and interact with the instructor throughout their program.

Instructors benefit from prepared and streamlined assignments with automatic student scoring freeing up time for lab and application-based instruction. The solution allows for access to ongoing monitoring of student strengths and weaknesses, enabling instructors to redirect lessons based on areas where further training is needed. The ability to isolate questions and address specific learning concerns, paired with more time for hands-on training, will ultimately better prepare students for the workplace.

“Cengage Learning developed this courseware for the NJATC based on our extensive understanding of the electrical industry and our broad experience in delivering e-learning solutions,” said Greg Clayton, Vice President at Cengage Learning. “The program exposes learners to online resources and testing outside of the classroom throughout their apprenticeship training. The solution also helps instructors isolate particular concepts that need further review allowing more in-class time for application-based work.”

“Cengage Learning has unique technology and e-learning development capabilities combined with a long history of providing learning solutions to our customers. We are very proud to continue our work with the NJATC and support their efforts to train apprentices in the Outside Line Apprenticeship Program.”
